Job description

Overview of CTG GlobalCTG support and manage humanitarian projects in fragile and conflict-affected countries around the world. Overview of position
Established in 1951, our client is the leading inter-governmental organization in the field of migration and works closely with governmental, intergovernmental & non-governmental partners. With 172 member states, a further 8 states holding observer status and offices in over 100 countries, our client is dedicated to promoting humane & orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to govt's & migrants.
Role objectives
Under the overall supervision of the shelter/NFI Program Manager & the direct supervision of the Shelter/NFI Operations Officer, the successful candidate will provide support through the activities mentioned in the "Expected Out".
Expected output
  • Participate in the assessments, definition of technical documents & preparation of contracts for constructions undertaken by the shelter/NFI unit.
  • Prepare requests of materials & verify that materials delivered by suppliers adhere to technical specifications & relevant quality standards.
  • Support with the monitoring of the shelter unit’s constructions in Somalia.
  • Effectively work together with other cluster partners in executing emergency response activities.
  • Liaise with community leadership, intended project beneficiaries & relevant local govt. actors to promote appropriate involvement of the affected population in all the shelter/NFI unit’s programmatic activities.
  • Conduct assessments of local markets including the compilation, analysis & presentation of basic data on, for example; prices, stocks, labor rates, supply-chains & financial literacy.
  • Support the conceptualization & implementation of culture & context-appropriate shelter/NFI interventions.
  • Organize and deliver skills training's/capacity building activities for the benefit of affected populations.
  • Support the shelter/NFI units cash based interventions through the monitoring of all related activities in the field. Including, but not limited to:
             - Voucher distribution/collection.
             - Verification of cash for work outputs.
             - Vendor & community engagement.
  • Processing of data & addressing beneficiary complaints/feedback.
  • Support in the preparation of timely reports following implementation of activities using cluster standard format & other relevant tools and templates.
  • Provide information, that is texts, interviews & pictures that enhance visibility of activities implemented by our client in the field.
  • Any other task not listed above when requested by the Supervisors.
Project reporting
This role reports directly to the Shelter/NFI Operations Officer & is remotely monitored by Shelter/NFI Program Manager.
Key competenciesExperience:
- Ability to assess & adapt shelter designs to different contexts.
- Ability to monitor large groups of people.
- Good intra-personal skills.
- Willing & able to engage in continuous dialogue with affected populations & its leadership structures as well as other interlocutors & partners of the S/NFI unit.
- Ability to write weekly & monthly reports as required.
- Knowledge of protection.
- Fluency in English & Somali is required, knowledge of Arabic is desirable.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD, MS Word, Excel, Internet & Outlook.
- Ability to treat all persons of concern with dignity, respect & without discrimination.
- Operational field experience in Somalia required.

Education:
- University Degree preferably in International Relations & Conflict Management from an accredited academic institution with 3 years of relevant professional experience or School diploma with 5 years of experience in humanitarian response or related field.
Team management
This role does not have team management responsibility.
